HIHI’s October spotlight company Evident explores an AI Platform to Support Clinical Trial Recruitment
Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI) has completed a clinical evaluation of Evident, an Irish health technology company developing an AI-powered platform designed to help research teams identify patients who may be eligible for clinical trials.
Founded in 2024 by Kevin Barrett and Rob Brown, Evident, formerly known as Genotrial, was one of the winners of the 2025 HIHI.AI Call. The company is developing technology that uses artificial intelligence to analyse unstructured clinical records and fragmented data sources, creating longitudinal patient profiles and ranked lists of potentially eligible trial participants for research teams to review.
The identification and recruitment of suitable participants remains a significant challenge for clinical research. Research teams can need to review information across multiple clinical systems and records to determine whether a patient may meet the criteria for a particular study. This can be time-consuming and may create opportunities for potentially eligible patients to be overlooked.
As part of the clinical evaluation, HIHI brought together clinical researchers, principal investigators, operational leads and data specialists across Galway to examine Evident’s technology and explore how it could fit within real-world clinical research workflows.
The evaluation provided an opportunity to consider the platform from a range of perspectives, including its potential role in supporting research teams to identify possible trial candidates and how such technology might integrate with existing hospital and research processes.
The findings and insights generated through the evaluation will support Evident’s ongoing product development and help inform potential future integration with hospital and clinical research systems.
“Working with HIHI has provided us with valuable insight into how Evident could support research teams in real-world clinical environments,” said Kevin Barrett, co-founder of Evident. “The engagement with clinicians, researchers and operational stakeholders has helped us better understand the requirements for deploying our technology within clinical research workflows.”
Evident has also received support from Enterprise Ireland through programmes including New Frontiers, the Pre-Seed Start Fund and Prep4Seed. The programmes have supported the company through its early development, business growth and investment-readiness journey.
The company is now seeking to work with an Irish hospital, Clinical Research Facility or research organisation interested in exploring a pilot linked to a current or upcoming clinical trial.
Organisations interested in learning more about Evident or exploring a potential collaboration can contact HIHI, which can facilitate an introduction to the company.
