Ruán Kane
Ruán earned his BA, Higher Diploma in Psychology, and MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from the University of Galway. He began his research career on the iRelate study, which investigated the relationships between schizophrenia, social cognition, and immune function. He went on to work on psychiatric clinical trials at University Hospital Galway, including the SCOPE-BD trial, which evaluated scopolamine as a treatment for depression in bipolar disorder. Subsequently, Ruán joined the HRB Trials Methodology Research Network, where he led the development of a public education course on randomised trials. He later served as a Clinical Research Coordinator with the HRB Primary Care Clinical Trials Network Ireland, overseeing a medical device trial. Ruán joined HIHI in September 2025, bringing over six years of experience across a diverse range of clinical trials.
