AltaSeal is an alternative to tubal ligation. It is a micro-insert and delivery system that provides a non-surgical and removable option for women who have chosen permanent contraception. The micro-insert mechanically blocks the fallopian tube thus preventing pregnancy. It eliminates the need for surgery under general anaesthesia and painful recovery by providing an alternative reliable means of sterilisation. Over the course of 3 Clinical Trials, AltaSeal has been implant in over 90 women for an average of 6 years with no pregnancies reported. The technology has been patented. Approval process for FDA and EU MDR for commercial use is ongoing.
