Great article in the latest edition of the Irish Medical Times by Michael McHale on the Menopause Society of Ireland’s inaugural conference which brought together experts to discuss current care and future advances in treatment.

HIHI Director, Dr. Tanya Mulcahy spoke about the need for more research specifically focussing on women’s health so that menopause can be better understood. Dr. Mulcahy is also the founder of FemTech @Health Innovation Hub Ireland.

“When it comes to menopause we’re very much only touching the surface of where we should be,” she told IMT. “There’s a lot of research that could be done – we’re just scratching the surface at the moment”. She highlighted that she would like to see Ireland play a bigger role in the space by providing ringfenced funding for science and industry. “We have the technology and the ability in Ireland, the funding’s just not there for it at the moment,” she added. “But I would say ‘watch this space’ – it’s going to be very exciting in the next couple of years.”
