As Ireland is now in the midst of the Winter season this new digital solution is timely. Falls are a significant concern in Ireland, with thousands of older adults experiencing falls each year, often leading to hospital admissions and long-term care needs. According to the HSE each year about 30% of people aged 65 and over fall and for those aged 80+ the rate rises to about 50%.
The pilot, conducted in collaboration with University Hospital Galway and ICPOP teams, showcased incredible outcomes:
✅ Increased feelings of safety and independence for care recipients
✅ Reduced stress and improved reassurance for carers
✅ Enhanced patient monitoring for clinicians
Denis Weir, Senior Manager at Isaac Care commented on the role of HIHI in the pilot. “The results and learnings have made a real impact on our business, our clients, and those who participated in the project. The support we received from University Hospital Galway & Health Innovation Hub Ireland has been invaluable and this project has shaped the direction Isaac Care will take to refine our solutions and help people to age well.”
