NUA Surgical are developing an innovative surgical retractor to tackle major unmet needs of Caesarean Section (C-Section) impacting patients, clinicians and hospitals. The company was developed out of BioInnovate Ireland and is dedicated to innovating in women’s health. The founding team have over 50 years combined industry experience and are all currently employed by NUI Galway to develop this technology with funding from Enterprise Ireland and the European Commission. The team will spin out the novel technology into NUA Surgical Limited during 2020. Aiming to commercialise by 2022, NUA Surgical’s device will be used by obstetricians during C-Sections to alleviate multiple complications experienced in current practice, making it a safer and superior surgery.
