Health Innovation Hub Ireland launches it’s new Product Portfolio showcasing over 80 HIHI client companies with innovative healthcare products
Ireland is truly thriving with innovation, especially across our SME sector the lifeblood of our economy. SMEs make up 99.8% of all enterprises in Ireland, employ nearly 70% of the workforce, and account for over 40% of turnover and some 35% of Gross Value Added according to figures from the Central Statistics Office. Additionally, Ireland is ranked as a “Strong Innovator” in the 2024 European Innovation Scoreboard, performing above the EU average according to the European Commission.
It’s in this environment of rising entrepreneurial energy that we are excited to share that Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI) has just made its Product Portfolio publicly available via the HIHI web-site. The portfolio was formally launched at an all island event at Stormont Castle by Alan Dillon TD, Minister for State at the Department of Enterprise Tourism and Employment.
HIHI’s Product Portfolio showcases a collection of over 80 innovative healthcare products from HIHI client companies—spanning multiple specialties, therapeutic areas, and patient demographics.
This launch is more than just a showcase: it represents what is possible when innovation, supportive policy, and collaboration come together. It shows how Irish SME’s are solving real healthcare challenges, creating value, exporting know‐how, and ultimately improving patient care both here in Ireland and internationally.
Over the past ten years, HIHI has supported more than 1,000 companies with products at either idea, prototype or market ready stage. The majority of these are start-ups and SMEs have received state funding to assist their development with over 50% in receipt of Enterprise Ireland support.
