Dr. Colman Casey

Colman is responsible for ensuring that Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI) is the first point of call for individuals wishing to develop their products, services and/or technologies as a key component of innovation in healthcare to create Irish jobs and exports.

Colman is responsible for promoting and raising awareness of HIHI in the wider regional and national business community and managing and providing reports as required by the Hub’s Oversight committee. He ensures that HIHI operates to the highest international standards and integrity and is financially accountable. Implementing, advising and managing Intellectual Property issues and Data Protection issues for its participants in accordance with National policy and practice and relevant legislative requirements.

Colman works to increase in the level of entrepreneurial activity in the constituent communities of the Universities supported by the HIHI. He will provide the strategic framework to incorporate other national institutes and clinical entities into HIHI. Colman has managed HIHI projects with Lincor, ViClarity and Novaerus, amongst others.

Colman has a PhD in Microbiology and his career has spanned the Food and Drinks Industry (Biocon Ltd., for seven years), the Pharmaceutical Industry (Schering Plough, for 17 years) and more recently (since 2005) in academia.
